Tool Library

June 5, 2018

I met with a great teacher in the St. Clair West Village area of Toronto who told me about a tool lending library in his neighbourhood. He said that he was going to check out a few workshops so that he can (without interference) help his students learn some basic skills. Where was he when my oldest was doing DI?! I have a tool graveyard in my basement...

Just a reminder that it is okay to teach your team how to use tools (saw, sewing machine, drill, etc.) but it is not okay to do the work for them. If you think it is unsafe for them to use tools, then they will have to come up with a different way to solve the challenge. The cool part of DI is that kids are supposed to use their imagination and creativity – and they will!
