A few years ago, my daughter came to me and said, "Hey Mom. I need a 'vintage' costume for DI and I looked in your closet and couldn't find anything." I wasn't sure if I should be peeved or pleased. So I took her to Value Village where she picked out some cool stuff that she was able to repurpose. She was happy... and so was my wallet.
